ST JAMES JUBILEE FOUNDATION
The St James Jubilee Foundation is the spearhead of our long term fund-raising efforts designed to support and underpin this important island asset.
St James is a striking and prominent part of St Peter Port’s elegant townscape. It is a beautiful building in the Greek revival style and, together with the adjacent Dorey Centre, offers a multi-functional community space used by thousands of islanders each year.
For such an important space, it often surprises users that, while the building is owned by the States of Guernsey which remains responsible for maintaining the structure, the Friends of St James, through a group of dedicated staff and volunteers, are responsible for its successful operation.
Although benefiting from a small annual grant from the States to assist with operational costs, St James is effectively funded by operational surpluses and annual donations.
Reaching our 25th Anniversary and concerned to ensure the continued availability of St James to the people of Guernsey, the Friends established the St James Jubilee Foundation. This is a charitable trust established to gather funds from well-wishers to ensure long-term support for this important facility.
The Trustees’ initial objective is to raise £500, 000 to ensure that St James remains an asset for the people of Guernsey and that it should continue to thrive and remain financially secure.
The Trustees welcome the support of all who are interested in maintaining the important contribution which St James makes to the cultural life and heritage of the island. Key details are set out in the brochures below. Please click on the pdfs for more information.
